1st and 2nd place for taf in Barista Championship
Kostas Iatridis and Irini Daskalopoulou, baristi in taf coffee shop, won first and second place respectively. This two gangs, who were training together in taf, are really excited!
Irene, in her first participation in competition has managed to reach second place, with a presentation inspired by Ethiopia, the country which the coffee that she used comes from. She participated with a unique coffee form Ninety Plus, coming from the Varone project, which is attributed to the visionary of Ninety Plus Joseph Brodsky and concerns single coffee varieties in Ethiopia. The coffee processing is natural with custom applications, removal of oxygen, slow drying etc. In her cup you could find complexity, various notes of exotic fruits and a great characteristic of the natural fermentation.
Kostas, with experience in competitions, as he has received the second place in the world for Brewers Cup in 2015, participated with a special coffee, also from Ninety Plus and Ethiopia. Semeon Abay, the Director of processing of Ninety Plus has work on the particula taste profile in Ethiopia. The cup gave complex aromas and flavors of different taste categories, such as florals, citrus, exotic fruits, chocolate.
Kostas will represent our country at the world championships in Seoul in summer.
For this great result taf team is really proud. Its a team work after all, led by Yiannis Taloumis and Stefanos Domatiotis, that supported and helped the two competitors in their effort. The coffees of both barists were skillfully roasted in taf by Elias Taloumis.
