Lilac geisha of the Ama project has landed in Taf Roastery!

The Highly Anticipated Lilac Geisha from the Innovative Ama Project Has Arrived at Taf Roastery!

As part of Taf’s collaboration with Project Origin, Yiannis Taloumis, CEO and Head of Quality at Taf, was invited to be part of an international team that attended the first presentation of the Ama Project and participated in the initial tasting and evaluation of these coffees.

The Ama Project creates a space for us to discover Geisha coffees, cultivated and carefully nurtured with love in Brazil. Born from the collaboration between World Barista Champion Sasa Sestic and long-time specialty coffee producer Luiz Paolo of CarmoCoffees, this project aims to showcase the unique flavor profiles that Geisha coffee can offer through Brazilian terroir.

With innovative processing techniques, the Ama Project identifies and highlights “pearls” of flavor—exceptional coffees that have always been there, waiting to shine. In addition to the washed process, the Carbonic Maceration method has also been used, a technique refined through years of experience on farms worldwide.

As a strategic partner of the Ama Project, Project Origin brings these unique varieties to roasters around the world, enhancing consumer access to high-quality specialty Geisha coffees.

The Inspiration Behind the Name ‘Ama’

The project’s name is inspired by the Japanese Ama divers, also known as “women of the sea,” who traditionally dived to collect pearls from the ocean. The Ama Project’s logo embodies this ongoing quest for something precious, connecting Geisha coffee with the art of discovery and care.
