Taf at Brazil with the Project Origin for the Ama Project

As part of taf’s collaboration with Project Origin, Yiannis Taloumis, CEO and Head of Quality of taf, was invited to be part of an international team that attended the first ever presentation of the Ama Project, as well as the first testing and evaluation of the coffees.

The Ama Project is a partnership between Project Origin and Carmo Coffees, developed by Sasa Sestic and Luiz Paulo and their teams, aiming to change the predominant perception of Brazilian coffees (large production, blend coffees). To prove that this origin can produce fruity and floral coffees just like other origins, but also to highlight the exceptional Geisha variety incorporating all the elements of the Brazilian terroir that we love. Additionally, Sasa Sestic’s expertise in processing contributed to the development of unique flavor profiles that we have not seen so far in Brazil, which was confirmed by the high scores and positive reviews these coffees received from the International team.

The unique name of the project, Ama, comes from the female divers from Japan, who traditionally dived into the ocean without a mask to find pearls.

We are awaiting two “pearls” from Brazil that will be arriving at the taf Roastery very soon. Stay tuned for more!
